Exciting opportunities for pharmacists, pharmacy residents and pharmacy technicians are available throughout Nova Scotia. Pharmacy professionals are in high demand across Nova Scotia. Clinical Pharmacist Specialty positions in critical care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, oncology, surgery and cardiology are available now. Pharmacy technicians are needed to work in medication reconciliation, oncology clinical support and chemotherapy preparation. 

Pharmacy teams are widely respected as medication management experts who collaborate with patients, their families and the interprofessional team to provide quality patient care ensuring that medications are safe, effective, and meet patient driven goals of care. The scope of practice for pharmacy teams in Nova Scotia is continuously evolving with pharmacists well positioned to optimize access to care through advanced practice activities such as prescribing for a diagnosis or preventative medicines. 

 

Compensation, incentives and more

Pharmacy professionals joining Nova Scotia Health in permanent and long assignment positions may be considered for signing bonuses of up to $10,000. Those relocating may receive up to $5,000 in moving expenses for a one or three-year return of service.

Join the Residency Program

In affiliation with Dalhousie’s College of Pharmacy, Nova Scotia Health – Central Zone pharmacy department, is proud to offer a 52-week post-graduate accredited pharmacy residency program.  

Using structured rotations through various areas of pharmacy practice, the program aims to develop Pharmacy Residents into highly qualified pharmacists with an exemplary level of patient care and practice abilities. The purpose of the pharmacy residency program is to provide a practical learning environment and preceptor role models, help Residents develop the necessary skills, knowledge and values required to be a competent and progressive pharmacy practitioner, and encourage future leaders in the profession.

Advance your oncology education 

Interested in advancing your oncology education? The program builds upon the competencies established through completion of an accredited Year 1 pharmacy residency and/or a post-graduate clinical pharmacy degree and is designed to comply with the accreditation standards of the Canadian Pharmacy Residency Board for Advanced (Year 2) Residency programs.
