About the Opportunity

Under the direct supervision of the Food Service Supervisor, the Journeyman Cook prepares standardized recipes for patients and long-term care residents. The Journeyman Cook, on occasion may produce made to order options for veterans. The Journeyman Cook is responsible for maintaining high standards of sanitation and food safety.

This position will be based out of Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building main kitchen, cooking food for DGH, and will eventually move over to Dartmouth General Hospital once infrastructure is ready.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following: 

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Certified Journeyman Cook
  • 1 year experience preferred
  • Baking skills are an asset
  • Ability to deal with customers and patients in a courteous, helpful manner
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Competencies in other languages preferred; French an asset

Hours

  • Permanent, Part-Time; 37.5 Hours Biweekly

Compensation and Benefits

$23.45 - $26.21 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
