Join Nova Scotia Health as a Physician Assistant

It’s an exciting time to be a Physician Assistant (PA) in Nova Scotia. Introduced in 2019 through a pilot program in Orthopedic Surgery, the role of PAs has since expanded significantly, now encompassing four emergency sites and 20 primary care facilities. As a PA, you’ll play a pivotal role in advancing your profession—educating and delivering outstanding healthcare across this stunning coastal region. 

The Dalhousie University Master of Physician Assistant Program, launched in January 2024, offers further opportunities. You can support new PA students, potentially engage in lecturing, and mentor these students during their clinical placements in their second year

Physicians Assistants in Nova Scotia are well-supported, being licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia and backed by the Interprofessional Practice and Learning team and health services leadership. This environment not only fosters professional growth but also enhances the delivery of healthcare throughout the region.

Physician Assistant Site Visit Program

Ask us about our new Physician Assistant Site Visit Program. Relocating for a new opportunity is a big decision, which is we encourage you to come and get a feel for what it's like to live and practice in Nova Scotia. Our Site Visit Program will reimburse you for the costs of visiting a potential practice site up to $5,000 CAD.
