About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Health Services Director, Critical Care, the Health Services Manager is responsible for the planning and coordination of services and daily operations of people-centered programs within the Central Zone of Nova Scotia Health.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing leadership and direction for staff to ensure the goals and objectives are continually met
- Promoting and emphasizing people-centered care in partnership with the patient, family, and healthcare team
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining an active human resource plan including recruitment, selection, interviewing, and hiring
- Preparing and analyzing all relevant financial and clinical data, reporting trends and identifying where corrective action is required for budget variances, implements changes as required and evaluates the effectiveness of the changes
- Establishing and maintaining creative and efficient communication processes across clinical teams, geographically different sites, other disciplines, and other stakeholders within NSH as required
- Managing process improvements for quality patient care and enhancing capacity
- Representing their discipline or service/program by active and effective participation in meetings and on committees
- Based on standards for critical care, directing the development and implementation of clinical practices
- Monitoring and working with the team and colleagues to identify areas for staff improvement and overall unit performance
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related discipline.
- 5 years of recent and relevant clinical experience
- 5 years of recent experience in a leadership and/or management position with responsibilities related to program planning, evaluation, human resource, and financial management within a unionized environment
- Experience developing and facilitating strategies consistent with the principles of Organizational Health
- Demonstrated proficiency in program planning, financial and human resource management, oral and written communication, and interpersonal effectiveness
- Excellent leadership, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, conflict resolution, negotiation, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills, with the ability to successfully change, adapt, overcome, and cope with unexpected challenges
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strategic partnerships and collaborative working relationships with a variety of internal and external partners across the healthcare continuum
- Demonstrated commitment to employee and self-development and continuous quality improvement
- Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, internet, email, and the ability to utilize health information systems for decision support

Compensation and Benefits
$45.45 - $60.39 Hourly
