About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, the Manager works with the DI Medical Department Head for the Zone, to facilitate the daily administrative and clinical operations of the areas of responsibility and to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe and efficient Diagnostic Imaging services.  The Manager works in collaboration with other managers and staff to develop and implement policies and procedures which are congruent with the Program and overall corporate plan of Nova Scotia Health.

The Manager is accountable for the efficient and effective operation of Computed Tomography and Nuclear Medicine services for Diagnostic Imaging, Central Zone.  CT services at the QEII are provided 7 days/week, 24/7 by onsite CT technologists, CT services at Cobequid are provided 7 days/week 18 hours/day and CT Dartmouth General are provided 7 days/week, 24/7 hours/day, either by on-site technologists or on call service. Nuclear medicine services including PET/CT, are 5 days/week 10 hours/day. CT and Nuclear Medicine are multi-site, multi-disciplinary services including technologists, technical assistants, LPNs, and imaging attendants. PET CT serves patients for all of Nova Scotia. The Manager is also responsible for the coordination of the clinical program for CZ CT and Nuclear Medicine services with respect to quality and fiscal accountability. The Manager works in a co-leadership relationship with the designated Service Chief / Chief Radiologist for assigned areas / facilities.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Medical Imaging Technology, supplemented by additional formal management and/or leadership training.
  • Credentialed with CAMRT or other imaging-related credentialing body.
  • Licensed/be eligible to practice by the Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals
  • Minimum 3 years of recent relevant supervisory/managerial experience, demonstrating progressive development of financial, strategic and people management skills.
  • Masters Level Degree in health-related discipline, health administration, business administration or related subject with registration with relevant health or professional discipline/college or association an asset
  • Certified Health Executive designation with the Canadian College of Health Leaders an asset
  • Leadership, organizational and decision skills in support of patient, family, and client-centred diagnostic imaging services.
  • Knowledge in field to help inform strategy development and organizational planning.
  • Strategic planning and systems thinking.
  • Experience in financial planning and management.
  • Evidence-based collaborative problem solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills. 
  • Well-developed organizational, networking, negotiation and change management skills.
  • Understanding of the principles of project management with demonstrated ability to lead work teams.
  • Experienced in leading change. 
  • Familiarity with quality improvement methodologies. (e.g., LEAN)
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills that are responsive to audience needs.
  • Advanced written and oral communications skills/positive energetic public persona.
  • Cultural competence.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret statistical data and monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarks.
  • Possesses functional knowledge of Radiology Information Systems and document control systems. 
  • Ability to work within Microsoft Office suite and SAP environments.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and/or alternative education shall be considered.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent full-time position; 75 hours biweekly

Compensation and Benefits

$45.45- $60.39 hourly
