About the Opportunity

 

The Nova Scotia Health Innovation Hub is transforming health care delivery and improving the health of all Nova Scotians by leading initiatives that deliver high-impact health care solutions and developing strategic partnerships with clinical champions, industry, healthcare foundations, governments and academic partners. By pairing leading researchers, innovators, and clinicians with entrepreneurs through the NS Health Innovation Hub, their creative solutions are improving health and health care while also contributing directly to Nova Scotia’s economy.

We are seeking dynamic, experienced individuals to join our team and contribute their skills in a fast paced, collaborative environment where innovation and excellence thrive. 
 

Key Responsibilities

Business Development and Commercialization:

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for technology transfer, commercialization, and intellectual property development.
  • Support entrepreneurs, researchers, and clinical teams in scaling health innovations.
  • Drive revenue generation through strategic business partnerships.
  • Lead initiatives to attract partners, investors, and funding to accelerate innovation and commercialization.
  • Pursue commercialization pathways for intellectual property, ensuring the successful transition of health technologies to market.
  • Develop and implement revenue strategies aligned with healthcare priorities and economic development goals.
  • Negotiate and manage complex business agreements, partnerships, and licensing deals.

 

Program Development and Implementation: 

  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and monitor integrated programs of care, strategic plans, goals, and action plans.
  • Ensure initiatives are responsive to emerging healthcare trends and system priorities.

 

Partnerships and Collaboration: 

  • Cultivate and manage partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including government, industry, academia, and healthcare foundations.
  • Represent the Health Innovation Hub in professional forums, advocating for healthcare innovation and investment in Nova Scotia.
  • Engage donors and funding organizations to support program growth and sustainability.
  • Cultivate and maintain high-value partnerships with industry leaders, government agencies, venture capital firms, and academic institutions.
  • Represent the Health Innovation Hub at national and international forums, showcasing Nova Scotia’s leadership in health innovation.
  • Work closely with donors and funding agencies to secure financial support for high-potential initiatives.

Project and Financial Management

  • Oversee large-scale projects, ensuring efficient resource allocation and alignment with health system priorities.
  • Exercise financial stewardship, creating and managing budgets and ensuring compliance with funding agreements.
  • Lead financial planning and sustainability efforts, ensuring fiscal responsibility across programs and initiatives.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with commercialization, intellectual property, and investment partnerships.
  • Develop and oversee funding models, investment strategies, and performance measurement frameworks to maximize return on investment.

 

Leadership and Talent Development: 

  • Skilled at inspiring teams, fostering enthusiasm, and motivating others to perform at their best. Able to empower and support team members to achieve collective success.
  • Proven ability to create and maintain an inclusive, accountable, and respectful environment where diverse voices are valued, and team members feel empowered to contribute their ideas.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across diverse groups, encouraging collaboration and open communication to achieve shared objectives.

 

Communication and Stakeholder Relations: 

  • Develop and execute strategic communications, marketing, and rebranding plans, and maintain relations with government bodies, industry stakeholders, and academic institutions.

About You

 

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

 

Education: 

  • Relevant degrees (e.g., Bachelor’s, Master's, etc.) in disciplines such as health sciences, engineering, business administration, or related fields.

 

Experience: 

  • Extensive experience in business development within the private sector, strategic planning, project management, and partnership building with public institutions or the healthcare sector.
  • Extensive experience in business development, strategic planning, and partnership management.
  • Proven experience managing complex initiatives and/or partnerships in healthcare, innovation, or economic development.

 

Skills: 

  • Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation, and communication skills. Proven ability to conduct market research and analysis, manage multi-stakeholder initiatives and projects, and to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment. 
  • Expertise in funding strategies, commercialization, and navigating government partnerships. 
  • Demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders, manage multi-stakeholder initiatives, and drive systemic change.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to foster an inclusive, respectful, and innovative work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, drive projects forward, and work independently to achieve goals while fostering a sense of ownership within the team

 

Competencies: 

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including self-awareness, managing self, developing self, and demonstrating character. Ability to engage others, achieve results, develop coalitions, and support systems transformation.
