About the Opportunity

The Occupational Therapist (OT) works under the supervision of the Manager of Seniors Western Zone and is a member of the interdisciplinary Seniors Care Team providing service primarily in the emergency department and community setting.  The OT participates in the planning, development and provision of Occupational Therapy services to support seniors and enhance their independence and function at home. The OT works to their full scope of practice as an independent practitioner within the team. The OT provides collaborative, client centered care across the continuum, supporting the physical well-being of all individuals (includes patients, families, groups, populations and communities). This position includes considerable collaboration within the team and with community partners. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required. The OT may also contribute to the clinical education of Occupational Therapy students and related health disciplines. The OT is responsible for adhering to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures and to the professional standards of their licensing body, the Nova Scotia Occupational Therapy Regulator.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
 

  • Bachelor degree or entry level Masters program in Occupational Therapy
  • Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the Nova Scotia Occupational Therapy Regulator is mandatory
  • Experience in seating assessments and pressure management strategies is considered an asset
  • Experience in Geriatric Care and knowledge of dementia preferred
  • BCLS
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact positively with patients, families, and other health care providers.
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness and organizational health
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
  • Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

  • Permanent Full-Time / 75 Hours Bi-Weekly
  • Shifts may include evenings, weekends, holidays

Compensation and Benefits

$36.57 - $47.34 Hourly
