About the Opportunity

 

Reporting to the Senior Director People Services, and working as a part of the HR Operations, the People Services Director provides strategic HR advice and client services on people services-related matters to executive, senior leaders, managers and staff within the zones using a provincially coordinated and integrated approach. They work alongside operating partners, listening and co-creating tailored people strategies that contribute toward positive organization outcomes.

 

The People Services Director:

  • Oversees an HR Operations team consisting of HR Business Partners and HR Assistants that bridge the gap between Human Resources and operational partners.
  • Coordinates horizontally across HR Centres of Excellence (Recruitment, Compensation & Benefits, Scheduling, Talent and Organizational Development and Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness) to bring the right expertise to solve business challenges and problems within a customer group.
  • Ensures continuous improvement to advance a vision of excellence within their areas of responsibility and is accountable for the development, maintenance and monitoring of quality programs, and compliance with relevant legislation, standards and accreditation requirements.
  • Facilitates and champions a learning and research environment that aligns with Nova Scotia Health, and works closely with education institutions, government, and other partners on the preparation of our health workforce.

About You

 

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, social science, business or public administration or related field
  • Master’s degree an asset
  • Human resource certificate is an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in progressive leadership roles involved in planning and delivering comprehensive human resource services within a complex, integrated service model provided throughout several locations with multiple partners and stakeholders
  • Significant management experience and knowledge of all aspects of human resources man-agement and workforce planning, preferably within the health sector
  • Ability to assess organizational development / learning needs and implement and monitor programs on a continual basis
  • Experience as a strategic advisor and operational leader within a complex organization, enabling change.
  • Experience in engaging, mentoring and empowering teams and stakeholders in a collaborative, participative manner to respond to the mission, vision, goals and objectives of an organization.
  • Experience in project management principles and implementation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of policy impact and development.
  • Knowledge of health care organizations and the health sector an advantage
  • Comfortable leading in a unionized context.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, negotiation and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to build engagement among peers and business leaders to support new strategies and change management.
  • Experience working with diversity of staff and stakeholders, with knowledge of cultural competence, diversity and social inclusion.

Hours

 

  • Permanent Full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
  • Position location will be dependent on the successful candidate
  • Requirement to participate in the zone management on call program
  • Travel to various sites will be required

Compensation and Benefits


$58.09 - $72.62 Hourly
