About the Opportunity

The Financial Analyst, Budget and Forecast Consolidation, will play a critical role in supporting the Manager and Director of Finance in developing and maintaining the Nova Scotia Health’s financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and multi-year financial modeling. This position is essential in driving insights that support Nova Scotia Health’s mission, values, and commitment to high-quality, provincially integrated health services. The Financial Analyst will work closely with other finance team members, operational leaders, and stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely reporting, forecasting, and analysis in alignment with organizational priorities.

 

Key Responsibilities:
•    Collaborate in the preparation and maintenance of the annual operating budget. Assist with designing budget models, gathering data, and ensuring timely distribution of budget information to operational units and stakeholders.
•    Support the monthly consolidation of financial forecasts by preparing and analyzing data models, developing, and maintaining tools, and conducting quality and accuracy checks on forecast results.
•    Work with the Manager, Director and Nova Scotia Health leaders to develop multi-year operating forecasts, contributing insights that inform annual business planning and operational priorities.
•    Manage large data sets to support forecasting and budgeting processes. Develop reports and provide insights into budget variances, staffing, and other financial drivers.
•    Participate in initiatives to enhance financial processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Identify opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency in data modeling and analysis.
•    Liaise with finance leaders and other departments to gather necessary data, clarify budget assumptions, and address budget-related inquiries. Support the Budget Manager in providing financial guidance aligned with strategic goals.

 

This position utilizes a hybrid workplace model and is eligible for work from home privileges. 

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
 
•    Graduate of a recognized post-secondary business and/or accounting program (Undergraduate degree preferred)
•    Enrolment or completion of CPA designation considered an asset
•    Minimum three (3) years' strong financial and accounting experience required
•    Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups, sumifs, organizing data sets, etc.…)
•    Advanced technology skills considered an asset (SAP, SQL, Tableau, VBA, macros)
•    Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
•    High degree of curiosity with strong analytical, problem solving, and conceptual thinking skills
•    Strong organizational skills, reliable, autonomous and keen sense of initiative
•    Ability to manage tight deadlines and prioritize in a fast-paced dynamic team environment
•    Ability to identify trends and developments from financial data and other evidence
•    Ability to conceptualize and implement innovative analytical tools, processes, and solutions
•    Healthcare experience or knowledge considered an asset
•    Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

Hours

  • Permanent, full-time position, 75 hrs bi-weekly

Compensation and Benefits

$33.80 - $42.25 Hourly
