About the Opportunity

Functioning in a co-leadership capacity with the PLM Zone Medical Lead, the Director is responsible for the administrative and clinical operations of PLM, and the delivery of a high quality, safe laboratory services throughout the Northern Zone. The Director participates in the development of program strategy and is accountable to the Senior Director for program delivery and continuous improvement within the Zone. The position maintains an indirect matrix reporting relationship with the Zone Executive Director.

 

The Director interacts extensively with clinical and management staff, serving as the principal management point of contact for PLM services within the Zone. The Director collaborates and works consultatively with other PLM staff in the Program to ensure services offered are standardized provincially and comply with laboratory standards and accreditation requirements.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Undergraduate degree on health related discipline, health administration, business administration or related subject
  • Certified with CSMLS as a Medical Laboratory Technologist
  • Licensed to practice by the Nova Scotia College of Medical Laboratory Technologists
  • Completion of a Leadership Management Program, or commitment to complete within defined time period
  • 3-5 years of relevant management experience demonstrating progressive accountabilities for financial, strategic and people management to deliver high quality services
  • Excellent leadership, organizational and decision skills in support of patient, family and client centred laboratory services
  • Expert knowledge in field to critically analyze evidence-based practices to inform strategy development and organizational planning
  • Strategic planning and systems thinking
  • Expertise in financial planning
  • Evidence-based collaborative problem solving of complex multifaceted issues
  • Critical thinking and analytical problem solving
  • Understands the principles of project management and demonstrated ability to lead work teams
  • Experienced in leading change
  • Quality improvement methodologies (e.g. LEAN)
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills that are responsive to audience needs
  • Demonstrated advanced communications skills/positive energetic public persona
  • Ability to analyze and interpret laboratory statistical data and monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarks
  • Possesses knowledge of lab information systems
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent, Full-Time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Travel may be required

 

Compensation and Benefits

$54.99 - $73.06 Hourly
