About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Pharmacy Services, the Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacist collaborates closely with medical, nursing, and infection control teams to ensure appropriate use of antimicrobials, monitor patient responses to treatment, and reduce the development of antimicrobial resistance within the healthcare setting. They will be a resource to other clinical pharmacists in their zone on antimicrobial use and an integral part of the AMS program. The Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacist responsibilities include the provision of clinical services, staff education, training and preceptorship, continuous quality improvement and administrative duties. The AMS Pharmacist promotes the optimal use of antimicrobial agents for inpatients and outpatients as applicable.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or an entry level Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy from a CCAPP (or similar standard) accredited university required
- Completion of a Pharmacy Residency Program preferred
- Eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Pharmacy Regularor (NSPR)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- Minimum two years experience in clinical practice in a hospital pharmacy setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of antimicrobial drugs and therapeutics
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to make accurate and timely recommendations regarding safe and cost-effective use of drugs
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
- Permanent / 100% FTE / 75 Hours Bi-weekly
- Home site is Colchester East Hants Health Center with approximately 50% travel required to other facilities within Northern zone
Compensation and Benefits
$49.42 - $61.74 Hourly
