About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Scheduling Operations Manager, the Assistant Manager aides in the day-to-day operations and workflow guidance of an integrated staff scheduling team that delivers high quality schedule planning and building, timekeeping, and shift filling of immediate and long-term needs. Essential components of this position include decision-making, creativity, interpersonal skills, communication, relationship-building, and change management, to provide effective leadership for continuous quality improvements within the staff scheduling office.

 

The Assistant Manager is accountable for the co-leadership, organization and direction of Scheduling Operations within the zone. This role will guide the Scheduling Advisor, Scheduling Coordinators, and Scheduling Clerks with their work, orientations, and development.  This role will be key in working with the Provincial Scheduling Services Team, including the zonal training and sustainment specialists.

 

The Assistant Manager is a creative and independent, a confident and innovative problem-solver able to combine a knowledge of the current scheduling processes and collective agreement standards that are in place with the needs of the operational units/areas that their office supports. This role requires the ability to build key relationships with the managers of units/areas that they support, Human Resources Teams, Labour Relations, and the Provincial Scheduling Services Team. 

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Baccalaureate degree in related field such as Business Administration or equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • 2-3 years scheduling experience with 1 years in a supervisory or project management capacity
  • 1-2 years knowledge and experience in Human Resources (including Collective Agreements)
  • Experience with adult education or training an asset  
  • Project Management and or Change Management an asset
  • Knowledge of the environment, staffing practices and time reporting processes preferred
  • Experience with scheduling and or HR software preferred
  • Demonstrated planning, organizing, prioritizing and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including ability to work as a team member and ability to foster collaborative relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking, synthesize information, problem solve and utilize good judgment in decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality; recognize sensitive issues and respond appropriately.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Knowledge of adult education and learning principles
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Internet Explorer, Outlook and human resources information systems.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

  • Long Assignment, Full-time; 75 Hours Bi-weekly

Compensation and Benefits

$35.98 - $44.97 Hourly
