About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Pharmacy Director, the Pharmacy Automation Lead is responsible for providing a high level of organization and support for local Pharmacy Automation Strategy. The tasks performed by the Pharmacy Automation Lead are essential to provide accurate and timely data and reporting for decision-making and day-to-day automation optimization. The Pharmacy Automation Lead works closely with zonal pharmacy leaders and the pharmacy automation team, and liaises with the Technology-Enabled Practice team, and project managers to support automation planning and implementation activities which may include coordinating equipment purchases, space planning and readiness assessment. The Pharmacy Automation Lead is responsible to manage and coordinate interprofessional automation training and education, develop learning materials, as well as providing support to leaders across the province in coordinating the education for their areas. This role will also include general project management procedures that may involve balancing large-scale projects, often with multiple competing tasks, and other activities such as preparing documents, communications, agendas, meeting minutes, and decision requests.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or equivalent education and expereince
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • Five years' experience as a pharmacy technician/pharmacy practice assistant, in a hospital is required
  • Able to travel to all sites within Central Zone, required
  • Project management experience including developing a multiphase project plan, coordinating equipment prucurement, implementation and project evaluation, an asset
  • Experience in a formal or informal leadership role, an asset
  • Experience in unit dose drug distribution systems, automation technology, decentralized medication dispensing cabinets, an asset
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, inventory control and record keeping
  • Demonstrated good decision making and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medications 
  • Knowledge of the law and regulations pertaining to the receipt, storage and distribution of prescription and narcotic drugs
  • Basic typing skills or computer/keyboard experience; skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, etc.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

  • Permanent / 100% FTE / 75 Hours Bi-weekly
  • Hybrid position
  • Up to 25% travel required 

Compensation and Benefits

$30.51- $38.13 Hourly
