About the Opportunity

The Supervisor of Pharmacy Operations is responsible for ensuring a safe and efficient drug distribution system and participates in the management of Pharmacy Practice Assistants (PPA’s) and students. In addition, the Supervisor is involved with a full range of Quality Improvement Processes including monitoring product acquisition and drug shortage issues, while aiding in the development and implementation of policies and procedures. They resolve technical and medication distribution issues as required, while maintaining budgets for assigned work areas, including compensation and supplies.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade 12 plus completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician/Technology Program (accredited program preferred), or equivalent experience.
  • Licensure in Nova Scotia as a Pharmacy Technician (NSCP) is an asset
  • Minimum 3 years’ related experience in a hospital setting
  • 1 year supervisory experience is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and special precautions used with chemotherapy are an asset
  • Experience in unit dose drug distribution systems, automation technology, decentralized medication dispensing cabinets, an asset
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, inventory control and record keeping
  • Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medications 
  • Knowledge of the law and regulations pertaining to the receipt, storage and distribution of prescription and narcotic drugs
  • Basic typing skills or computer/keyboard experience; skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build effective working relationships within Pharmacy and with interdisciplinary healthcare teams. Demonstrated collaborative practice with pharmacy practice assistants, pharmacists, learners, nursing, physicians and managers.
  • Must possess strong planning, evaluative and leadership skills; have demonstrated fiscal management skills, strong time management skills
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare issues and collective agreements
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Long-Assignment full time position; 75 hours biweekly

Compensation and Benefits

$25.63 - $32.24 Hourly
