About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Digital Initiatives, the Director of YourHealthNS provides strategic leadership and advice on business and technology solutions within assigned domains, with a key focus on the continued evolution, delivery, and optimization of the YourHealthNS digital platform and related services. The role leads the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of digital strategies, solutions, and services that support IMIT objectives, Nova Scotia Health priorities, and the broader digital health needs of Nova Scotians.

The Director is accountable for advancing digital transformation through technology innovation, stakeholder partnerships, portfolio and project management, and operational oversight. In the context of YourHealthNS, this includes supporting the ongoing enhancement of the platform and its integration with digital health services, while ensuring solutions align with client and patient needs, organizational goals, fiscal responsibilities, and government priorities. The role also supports change readiness, quality improvement, compliance, and the long-term sustainability of digital solutions and business applications.

The role provides leadership across data analytics, contract management, strategic procurement, and technology modernization initiatives, fostering collaboration, learning, research, and partnerships to advance current and future digital transformation efforts. Through strategic leadership and effective partnerships, the Director contributes to the continued growth and maturity of YourHealthNS while supporting broader digital health and IMIT priorities across Nova Scotia Health.

Specific Accountabilities

Planning and Systems Performance

• Provides strategic leadership for the planning, design, and delivery of Digital Solutions services, ensuring an integrated and sustainable provincial service model
• Leads partnerships and collaboration across NS Health, IWK, DHW, and Nova Scotia Digital Services to align priorities, strengthen service delivery, and support enterprise-wide digital initiatives
• Contributes to overall IMIT leadership by providing organizational direction, leadership coverage, and 24/7 executive support during critical system outages and incidents

Engagement

• Working with the associated internal NSHA department leaders to ensure the Digital Solutions is aligned to the organizational direction and one system provincial mandate
• Collaborating with IMIT leadership to ensure the needs and expectations of the IM/IT department are being met by the Digital Solutions services
• Engaging with NSHA IT groups that are not within the IMIT portfolio

Quality Service Delivery

• Ensure a customer service focused approach throughout the portfolio.
• Develop metrics and reporting for the Digital Solutions portfolio to highlight successes, challenges and customer satisfaction.
• Provides leadership, guidance and expertise to senior management and staff of the Nova Scotia Health Authority with respect to Digital Solutions through formal and informal presentations or meetings.

Visible Leadership, Partnerships and Relationships

• Advise the Director Digital Solutions, IMIT, with respect to overall Digital Solutions reporting, KPI development, planning, and performance measurement at a program/service level
• Establish and maintain relationships and partnerships including clinical, academic, government, research, foundations, and other system partners to inform decision making on corporate programs and services, including accountability frameworks, business planning, financial reporting, capital infrastructure strategies, risk analysis, etc.

Talent Management and Employee Engagement

• Provides leadership and oversight for provincial teams, fostering a high-performance, service-focused culture that delivers quality outcomes and customer excellence.
• Leads workforce planning, talent management, and employee development, promoting a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace.
• Ensures clear accountability, performance expectations, and alignment with organizational policies, priorities, and operational goals.

Financial Stewardship and Accountability

• Leads budget planning, forecasting, financial reporting, and KPI management to ensure fiscal accountability and effective resource stewardship.
• Supports the development and execution of financial, business, and capital strategies aligned with organizational priorities and long-term sustainability.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with significant leadership experience
• Master’s degree in business administration, public administration considered an asset
• Minimum of 5 years’ mid-level IT or related management experience in health care specifically related to directing and overseeing a broad spectrum of Technology services and IT Strategy
• Demonstrated progressive experience planning and delivering comprehensive IMIT strategy and services within a complex, integrated service model provided throughout several locations with multiple partners and stakeholders
• Medical and/or Health Sciences background considered an asset
• Certified Health Executive and/or Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) designation considered an asset
• Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and/or organizational change management certification considered an asset
• Significant progressive management experience and knowledge of all aspects information technology. This includes planning and policy development, as well as IMIT service delivery and operations
• Experience as a strategic leader within a complex organization, enabling change and leading large, IMIT transformational projects
• Experience serving as a strategic advisor on IMIT matters to senior leadership
• Expert knowledge to critically analyze evidence-based practices to inform strategy and organizational planning
  Experience in engaging, mentoring and empowering teams and stakeholders in a collaborative, participative manner
• Comfortable leading in a unionized context
• Skilled in collaboration, negotiation and persuasion
• Understanding of principles of project management and demonstrated ability to create and lead complex work teams
• Experience working with diversity of staff and stakeholders, with knowledge of cultural competence, diversity and social inclusion
• Ability to analyse and interpret statistical data and monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarks.
• Excellence in financial planning and management.
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Scale Type: Management
Band: 08
Hourly Rate: $67.2256 - $82.3514
Annual Salary: $131,089 - $160,585
