Job Description

Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre is seeking a full-time Anesthesiologist for a short term 6-month assignment from June 2026 to December 2026. Responsibilities

  • Provide care and coordination of community-based care, and secondary and tertiary level health care. 
  • Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority. 
  • Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities.
  • Work a full scope of practice as an anesthesiologist to provide care to the patients of Northern Zone. Surgical services include general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, ENT 
  • participating in on-call and able to respond to urgent matters within 20 minutes of being called

Expected Hours

  • Short Term Assignment Full-Time (6 months)
  • Evening and Weekend Call Coverage

Remuneration

  • Locum - Guaranteed Daily Rate

Locum physicians provide coverage for specialists. Compensation includes a minimum daily income guarantee of $1,600 for specialists ($800 for half-day), with additional earnings if shadow billings exceed this amount.

Travel expenses, including kilometrage, per diems, accommodations (up to $300 per night), and airfare (up to $1,500), are reimbursed, along with travel time up to 10 hours per week. Licensing fees for CPSNS are covered, and locum physicians may claim Facility On Call fees under specific conditions.

The Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre (CRHCC) is in Upper Nappan on the outskirts of Amherst, Nova Scotia. It offers a wide range of programs and services for residents of Amherst and surrounding areas and specialty services for residents of Cumberland County. CRHCC has 46 inpatient beds.
