Job Description

Dalhousie’s Student Health & Wellness Centre is seeking Locum Family Medicine Physician to join their team during a period of active recruitment.  Locum coverage would be starting in early September.

Responsibilities

  • delivery of comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness
  • work with other providers in the clinic to provide cross coverage and same day access
  • utilize an electronic medical record (EMR) and record all relevant patient details in a provincially approved EMR which is accessible to all collaborating team members

Remuneration

  • guaranteed daily minimum income of $1,200 for family physicians ($600 or half-day)
  • additional shadow billings if above amount is exceeded.
  • accommodations up to $300 per night 
  • travel expenses (including air fare up to $1,500)
  • travel time up to 10 hours per week
  • licensing fees for College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPSNS)

Clinic Details 

Dalhousie’s Student Health & Wellness Centre located in central Halifax is seeking a physician to join our team as the primary health care provider for an existing patient roster of community patients in addition to offering select student appointments for dedicated primary health care.

Our Centre is committed to providing quality primary and mental health care services to promote and enhance both community and student patients’ health.

The physician will work collaboratively with the Centre's interprofessional team of 15 family physicians, 2 family practice OB physicians, a nurse manager and 3 registered nurses, a psychiatrist, 9 counsellors and health promotion staff. Our clinical team is supported by an experienced administrative staff who manage scheduling, reception, referrals, nursing office duties, along with all billing and health records functions
