About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Worker (PSRW) works in inpatient and community settings. The PSRW provides holistic care for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness to achieve success and satisfaction in accordance with their personal values and goals. PSRW supports, educates and assists clients in the areas of daily living, working, learning and socialization, and facilitates an environment that fosters client participation and independence.

The PSRW participates as an active member of an interdisciplinary team and practices in accordance with the Recovery Model and Psychosocial Rehabilitation. The PSRW demonstrates a commitment to the mission, vision, goals and objectives of the NSH and conducts responsibilities in accordance with NSH policy and procedures, NSH Code of Conduct and Provincial Mental Health Standards.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

 

  • Two-year diploma in a Human Services Program, Disability Management or equivalent program
  • One year of previous experience preferred
  • Experience working with people with serious and persistent illnesses, including psychotic disorders, as well as individuals with complex needs and comorbidities such as substance use disorders preferred
  • Knowledge of mental illness, especially psychosis and severe and persistent mental illness an asset
  • Knowledge of community resources and psychosocial rehabilitation
  • Demonstrated accountability, good judgement and decision-making skills
  • Strong clients focus and ability to build solid client/practitioner relationships
  • Demonstrated communication, conflict resolution skills, collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Demonstrated planning, organizational and time management skills
  • Computer skills including email and word processing
  • Physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position
  • Travel is required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

Permanent full-time position; 75 hours biweekly 

Compensation and Benefits

$27.68 - $33.61 hourly
